I used Jimmie Dean precooked turkey sausage and added kidney beans to the salad. Very good! This made it even healthier and easier.

Delicious and really fast! I left out the green onion and added avocado and a little bit of ranch dressing. The ground beef mixture would be good on nachos too.

I LOVE this recipe! The only thing I changed was I used ground turkey instead of beef and 1 1/2 cups salsa instead of 2 cups. It had great flavor and we will be making it again! Yum

Nom nom nom! I used ground turkey and full fat cheese (the reduced fat stuff tastes like plastic to me). This recipe is perfect because it cooks up so quickly and it is easily adjusted to suit your tastes.

Fantastic!! Will make again! I used extra spicy salsa! I loved how hearty it was and the extra sharp cheddar made it amazing!

This meal is very light, yet super in taste! I used butter leaf lettuce as a shell rather than the traditional taco shell.

Echo the comments of other reviewers. Super simple and super tasty. I used fresh salsa and it added a great taste. I can see changing it up with other ingredients in the future. Definitely a keeper.

LOVED this. It also made great leftovers. Super easy. We used turkey instead of ground round to make it even more healthy and I actually mixed fresh spinach with fresh romaine for added nutrition also. I cooked the turkey with some kosher salt, pepper and garlic powder. This is a keeper for sure.!

We really enjoyed this. I made some substitutions based on what I had on hand, and also some additions based on other reviews: ground beef, black beans, chipolte chili powder (a big dash), yellow tomato, black olives and Trader Joe's veggie & flax tortilla chips. This bumped up the calories/fat a bit, but it was a great combination. We'll definately make this again.

I thought this was a very quick and easy recipe. To make this healthier, I substituted the ground beef for turkey and used non-fat cheese. I also added about 1/2 cup of diced onions along with the green pepper. My family loved it! Will definitely make this again!

Quick and easy to make. One of the better taco salads I've tried in terms of taste and ease of prep!

My husband and I both thought this taco salad was great. I substituted ground pork instead of ground turkey and added the black beans to the meat mixture that other had suggested. I also used medium black bean and corn salsa. Fantastic! We are definitely adding this to our rotating list of recipes!

I have made this for years. My kids and husband love it. Like others I add black beans and olives. I also add a little non fat yogurt and a little less salsa to lighten up the dressing.

Fantastic - definitely will be in my everyday recipe collection. I added a little chipolte chili powder at the end of cooking the topping. And I also added a can of rinsed drained black beans. Additional toppings - LF sour cream and diced avocado.

This was so easy and everyone (even my picky kids) loved it. I added a can of black beans to the meat mixture and some avacado and fat-free sour cream on top. I also used ground turkey, which worked out well. Very simple, tastes great, and everyone got their veggie servings!

It is so easy, I couldn't believe it could be so good. I used ground sirloin..only b/c I couldn't find ground turkey. My husband loved it, we are eating the leftovers tonight. I did add a few more toppings...sour cream, hot sauce, and jalapenos.

I have been making this recipe since the magazine article was released in 1999! I still have the magazine, but good to know you can get the recipe online now. Instead of ground round as the recipe calls for, I often use ground turkey which turns out well and even healthier for you. I did like the reviewers suggestion about using black beans. Can't hurt to add even more protein to this already great recipe.

It just doesn't get much easier than this and any better, either. This is a delicious go-to meal for any day of the week. A good addition to this recipe is a can of non-drained black beans and a topping of sour cream. Double the batch, freeze what's left, and then all you need to do for a quick weeknight meal is thaw and reheat in the micro. We really enjoy this recipe.
