This poetic picture book tells a story about two young children and what's it like to be raised by their gay parents. They are delighted to share their tales about everyday life with their two mommies and two daddies.

With lively illustrations and fun, rhythmic text, we learn that having same-sex parents doesn't make a difference at all through the eyes of a child, for love makes a family. The parents' love and tenderness they have for each other, their community, and their children are both palpable and relatable, reminding all of us that whether you are gay or straight, what matters most to a child is love, care, and attention.

This book makes the perfect addition to any household teaching the values of inclusion, equality, love, lgbtq+ family dynamics, and good parenting!

I Have Two Mommies. I have Two Daddies uses the rhyming rhythm of two children's voices to describe who their parents are and what they do. The pictures provide specific scenarios for the more general text. For example, when one voice says, "I have two daddies who taught me the goodness of sharing," there is a picture of the dads offering food to an implied homeless man. I like that the text and pictures don't shy from hardships children of two same-sex parents may face but don't get two specific either. On one page there is clearly an angry man shouting at the two dads, but they "stand tall and remain unshaken." This is a positive, powerful book for any child showing a reality seldom seen in children's picture books. One of the couples is also mixed race. I only wish the cover were more engaging. It has limited pictures of just two hands showing peace signs. That is an appropriate message, but too much of the cover is text which doesn't draw folks in, especially younger kids who are drawn to pictures.

Two children share with their friends what it looks like to have two mothers and two fathers. Sharing precious family time, and difficulty outside the house, they are delighted to share stories about their mommies and daddies.

Stephy R.Salazar and Bianca Silva created a very sweet book, promoting love, empathy and inclusion. Equality is demonstrated through the story, as the two main protagonists share intimate and special moments they have with their parents : game, activity, nighttime, meal. Happy and sad moments. Laughs and tears.

I love how the story shows that families with gay parents are in no way different than other families. With colorful illustrations and rhythmic words, the book shares a strong message of love and understanding.

My oldest has had a lot of questions about families lately. Even though she lives in a household with a mother and a father we are trying our best to instill in all of our children that a family unit varies but the only thing that truly matters is that each family is centered around love.
đź“– In the story I Have Two Mommies. I have Two Daddies, a couple of children are asked by their friends about their families. Confidently and proudly each child exclaims how wonderful their parents are.
đź“– With colorful illustrations and a gentle rhythmic storyline, you and your young reader will love to cozy up and share this sweet story together. Better yet, talk about the similarities between your family and the book

I received a free advanced copy of this book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers giveaway in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great book that shows children no matter what a family looks like it’s still full of love and caring parents no matter if it’s two daddies or two mommies. For preschool or elementary teachers it would be a great book to use when teaching or talking about families. It promotes the message of acceptance of all families and shows that parents all do “normal” things with their children like read together, cook dinner today and most importantly, take care of each other.

I Have Two Mommies. I Have Two Dadies. By Stephy R. Salazar.
This is a beautiful written book about how growing up in a home with two Same sex parents is just the same as of opposite sexes. In a child’s eye it doesn’t matter the sex of a parent it’s the parenting. This book hits close to home with my first granddaughter having Two mommies and I think it’s awesome! Everyone should read this book to their children and show it doesn’t matter if it’s a mommy and a daddy, two mommies, two daddies as long as they are raised right and with love.

This was an absolute treasure of a story. The writing and illustrations both are wonderful, there's great representation, there's activism without it being scary, and I think it's a wonderful book for both children who have two mommies and two daddies, and children who don't.
