Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots Pro Tip

  1. How to cut the carrots? The shape and size of your carrots are entirely up to you! I like to slice them diagonally or in ½ inch round shape.
  2. Can I make the glazed carrots in the oven?Yes, if you are making a batch you can make them in the oven. I would also recommend sprinkling cinnamon on top of them as it will provide a light earthy flavor, but also it smells great while baking.
  3. Should I peel the carrots? I would strongly recommend pealing the carrots; although leaving the skin on does not hurt either. I suggest washing the carrots well before cooking.
  4. Why add the orange juice? The orange juice will provide a slightly acidic flavor. It also enhances the flavor of the sweet carrots once they are cooked.
  5. Should I add oil or butter?Butter is best. The fat in the butter will help to provide a thicker sauce which also makes it rich.
  6. Do I need to use brown sugar?Absolutely not. You can use maple syrup or honey. I have made it with all. Although the flavor alters slightly, the taste is still amazing.
  7. What types of carrots to use?I like to use whole carrots or thick baby carrots.
  8. Do not use the shredded carrotsas the ending result will not be the same. It can cause the carrots to overcook and mush up.The precut or baby carrots are not as sweet as whole fresh carrots.
  9. Can I use frozen carrots? You can but be mindful of the reasons stated in number 7.
  10. Other spices to use in this Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots recipe?Cinnamon is always a great choice.
    1. Other choices are: Nutmeg. Rosemary. Parsley. Thyme. Cardamom and ginger are all ingredients I have used in the past to spice up these glazed carrots. Lemon zest is also another great choice. Especially if roasting the carrots.
  11. Can I make them ahead? Yes. You can make this side dish ahead of time.

You may serve these carrots alongside any dish. They make a great side dish for busy nights. They are also great with dill rice.
